Establishing & Activating Generational Blessings

Psalms 112:1-3
“Praise the Lord. Blessed are those who fear the Lord, who find great delight in his commands. Their children will be mighty in the land; the generation of the upright will be blessed. Wealth and riches are in their houses, and their righteousness endures forever.”
The blessings of many people end with them, no matter how they try to extend it to the next generation. Some people during their life time may be very rich but their next generation may be very poor. This may be contrary to their wish.
Several times we have heard about Generational curses- Exo 20:5-6, Lam 5:7. The Church has emphasized this so much that we know little or nothing about Generational Blessings. Curse can come upon a generation through the misbehavior or disobedience of one man like in the case of Arab and Jezebel who lost all their male children (72) in one day. In the same vein blessings can equally come upon a generation by the good deed or righteousness of one man like in the case of David for whose sake his Children were preserved and his throne established forever – Ps 89:28-37. By wrong doing your forefathers may have brought curses upon your family and generation but you can revoke it and sentence your family to generational blessings. The way you live as a parent is very important if you want a bright future for your children. What you do in your life time can either make or Mar your future, therefore be careful the way you are living your life.
Examples of those who provoked Generational Blessings : (1)Phinehas – Numb 25:1-13, when the children of Israel started mingling with the daughters of Moab and joined them in the sacrifices to their god’s, they provoked God to jealousy and the anger of God rose against them. At the midst of that an Israelite came in with a medianitish woman in the sight of Moses and all the congregation and entered into his tent. Phinehas took a javelin and followed them and pieced them with the javelin into the ground and God was appeased. His zeal for God attracted a covenant of peace for his generation. (2)Obededom – 2Sam 6:1-12, He housed the Ark of the covenant and within a space of three months was mightily blessed with his house hold. (3) In 2Sam 7:1-16, David provoked generational blessing by deciding to build a house for God. He argued that he can’t live in a good house while his God live in a tent. (4) Abraham – In Gen 22:1-18, God demanded for a sacrifice from Abraham to test his love for Him. Abraham’s unreserved obedient provoked uncommon blessing for his generation.
Generational Blessings are always provoked by our commitment in building the kingdom of God.
God is giving us the opportunity to affect our generation by investing into His kingdom. This is the only investment that has eternal value. It will count when you pass into eternity. These are the most pressing needs of the Church, you can activate generational blessings by supporting this vision.
