The Poison Of Unforgiveness

forgiveness 1

Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them. And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any: that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses. But if ye do not forgive, neither will your Father which is in heaven forgive your trespasses”. Mark 11: 24-26 – KJV

Men are afraid of eating poison because of its painful and devastating effect. They understand very well that POISON equals to DEATH. This is the knowledge of man about physical poison and so they avoid eating it no matter how hungry they are.

Unforgiveness is a poison, strengthened by bitterness and mothers resentment. These three put together are capable of ruining not just spiritual but physical life. The truth remains that if you fail to forgive, you turn yourself over to torturers. It tortures to have hateful thoughts towards another person rolling in your head,Then Peter came to him and asked, “Sir, how often should I forgive a brother who sins against me? Seven times? No! Jesus replied, seventy times seven. The Kingdom of Heaven can be compared to a king who decided to bring his accounts up to date. In the process, one of his debtors was brought in who owed him $10 million!, literally, 10,000 talents. Approximately £3 million. He couldn’t pay, so the king ordered him sold for the debt, also his wife and children and everything he had. But the man fell down before the king, his face in the dust, and said, ‘Oh, sir, be patient with me and I will pay it all. Then the king was filled with pity for him and released him and forgave his debt. But when the man left the king, he went to a man who owed him $2,000 approximately £700. and grabbed him by the throat and demanded instant payment. The man fell down before him and begged him to give him a little time. ‘Be patient and I will pay it,’ he pleaded. But his creditor wouldn’t wait. He had the man arrested and jailed until the debt would be paid in full .Then the man’s friends went to the king and told him what had happened. And the king called before him the man he had forgiven and said, ‘You evil- hearted wretch! Here I forgave you all that tremendous debt, just because you asked me to,  shouldn’t you have mercy on others, just as I had mercy on you? Then the angry king sent the man to the torture chamber until he had paid every last penny due. So shall my heavenly Father do to you if you refuse to truly forgive your brothers’ – Matt 18:23-25-CEV

Forgiveness is an inevitable Christian virtue which every child of God should possess. Forgive yourself, a lot of people are angry with themselves probably because of past mistakes and failures. At times such anger aggrevates leading them into the terrible sin of been angry with god and causing Him.  Forgive those who offended you weather they asked for it or not. Finally, reconcile with those you offended. This is the best way to live.

The scripture enjoins “ Don’t pay people evil for the evil they do to you. Focus your thoughts on those things that are considered noble.  As much as it is possible, live in peace with everyone” – Rom 12:17-18 – GW.
